As you can see in the video, there are various transitions you can use in video editing software. The two transitions featured in the video are the dissolve and a cut because they are commonly used for storytelling in a video. The dissolve is a mix of two shots to show a passage of time or location. The cut is where two shots come together at a certain point, creating a continuity in the action. As you’ll see towards the end of the video, Xander’s student film uses the more stylish transitions that causes a lack of continuity in the action and possibly distracts the audience from story.
