Framing Technique: The Rule of Thirds
The rule of thirds is a technique used to improve the point of interest and balance out a shot. It’s also used in a similar way for art, photography, and animation. When using the rule of thirds, the vertical line is commonly used for lining up the human figure and the horizontal line is usually used for lining up the background. The four points that intersect in the nine divisions are called the “Golden selections.” This is because artist/designers/whatever, tend to place objects in those areas.
